Professional Profile

My name is Katie and I am a fully qualified and BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist working with Think CBT in March, Cambridgeshire.

I have supported people with their emotional well-being since graduating in Psychology in 2002. I have worked in Australia and trained as a CBT Therapist in the NHS over a 6 year period. I currently work part time for NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborugh Foundation Trust and do intermittent private work with students at Cambridge University 

I also have a certifcate in counselling and have worked alongside counsellors which influences my therapetic approach and style as a CBT therapist. I like to give my clients the space they need to make sense of what they are thinking and feeling  and apply CBT gently and flexibly. I use CBT as a theorteical framework to understand and explain patterns and cycles that you may be stuck in.  

I also incorporate '3rd wave' CBT therapies such as Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my work as needed and have a particular interest in helping people with sleep difficulties and have been trained in CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I) and have previously run NHS groups for people with Insomnia. 

If you decide you would like us to work together, I will support you every step of the way, encouraging you to try new ways of doing things and aim to help you improve your emotional wellbeing 

It's a huge step starting therapy. If it's your first time or the first time with someone new, you may have lots of questions, worries or doubts. I am happy to answer these questions. I want to assure you of a warm, professional and friendly welcome, where we will go at your pace and where you are at the centre of the work we decide to do together.
